IMG_7642_Original

Lake Oswego is a picturesque city primarily situated in Clackamas County, with small parts extending into neighboring Multnomah and Washington counties. The town is located approximately 8 miles south of the bustling city of Portland, and it surrounds the stunning 405-acre Oswego Lake, which was originally named Waluga by the Clackamas Indians. Today, the lake is managed by the Lake Oswego Corporation and supports various watercraft, including boating and fishing. Visitors can disembark at the east end of the lake and take a stroll to nearby businesses.

The town was founded in 1847 and incorporated as Oswego in 1910. It was the hub of Oregon’s brief iron industry in the late 19th century and has since developed into a charming suburb of Portland. The population of Lake Oswego was 36,619 in 2010, representing a 3.8% increase from the 2000 population of 35,278.

The Lake Oswego School District, which serves approximately 7,000 students with a ratio of 23 students per instructor. The district has two high schools, Lake Oswego High School and Lakeridge High School, and six elementary schools and two junior high schools that cater to students in grades 1 through 8. The junior high schools are Lakeridge Junior High and Lake Oswego Junior High, with the latter formerly known as Waluga Junior High until its merger with Bryant Elementary in 2012.

One of the city’s most notable features is its extensive network of walking loops. The City of Lake Oswego began constructing pathways in 1992, which have since formed five main loops with a total length of 23.7 miles. Visitors can take a relaxing stroll and enjoy the beauty of the city at their own pace: Start here.

In addition to its natural beauty and walking loops, Lake Oswego is also known for its diverse dining options. Visitors can enjoy luxurious dining experiences as well as affordable options, with a map available to guide them to the best restaurants in town. Overall, Lake Oswego is a stunning city with plenty to offer visitors, from its natural attractions to its excellent schools and culinary scene.
